In today’s local paper…
The tallest building in South Dakota will come tumbling to the ground amid great fanfare on Dec. 3 [at 1:00 p.m.], and the owners of the property plan to use the event to raise money for the fight against multiple sclerosis.
The old Zip Feed Mills tower is being demolished to make room for a $15 million office and retail development and possibly a new events center.
This is going to be a family event for me.

As we mentioned previously, the abandoned Zip Feed Mill, the tallest structure in South Dakota, was scheduled for demolition to make way for a new office building. Today was the day, and a bunch of us, along with one of the local news crews, got together on top of Gadgetopia World…
That will be a sight! I've always been a little disappointed that the Zip building didn't make the list on SkyscraperPage.com; they list only the Qwest and Security Bank buildings in Sioux Falls. Now I guess it'll be a legitimate omission.
Keep in mind, the Qwest and Security Bank buildings can only scrape the sky on days when it's particularly low.
If you want to buy a raffle ticket to be the one to down the Zip Feed Mill go to www.blowzipup.com.
The day is quickly approaching.
It looks like http://www.blowzipup.com does have a webcam fired up so you all can watch.
For Sioux Falls residents, UTV (the UPN station) will be airing the demolition live, in case you can't make it down.
Well, they blew it up, but it didn't come down. Just a tad disappointing.

Only Sioux Falls idiots can unsuccessfully demolish a building. The contractor for the demolition said that this was the easiest demolition possible....AND THEY FAILD. What morons.
AND THEY FAILD.
With such a high opinion of Sioux Falls, we wonder where Nathan hails from. Sioux City perhaps?
Only Sioux Falls idiots can unsuccessfully demolish a building.
Hate to break this to you, my illiterate friend, but the demolition company was a national outfit hired to come in and do the job.
The plot thickens. Apparently this isn't the first time the demolition contractor involved on this project has had some difficulty.
Nathan said, "Only Sioux Falls idiots can unsuccessfully demolish a building."
Only an idiot would make such a statement before first checking the facts. Had Nathan used his head before his fingers, he would have quickly learned that the company hired to demolish the Zip tower was from Oklahoma.
